Delta Jets are priviledged to have some of the best fast jet instructor pilots available.
Our instructors are all current or ex-military fast jet instructors with a wealth of experience. Red Arrows, display pilots and test pilots make up this incredible team, all of whom have a deep passion for teaching others to fly these historic aircraft.
Chief Pilot - Andy Cubin Squadron Leader RAF MBE Ret'd.
Andy joined the RAF straight from school and went on to complete 5 tours flying the Sepecat Jaguar, including 2 tours in Oman and an instructional tour, during which time he became the Jaguar Display Pilot. In 1997 he was selected for duty with the Red Arrows and was awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours list. He spent his last 2 years in the Red Arrows as half of the Synchro Pair, finishing as Synchro Leader.
Aside from being Chief Pilot at Delta Jets, Andy is also an airline Captain, flying the Airbus 320 and 321, and is a dedicated family man. Andy has displayed the Hunter and the Gnat for 10 years and has over 500 public air shows and over 11,000 flying hours to his credit. In his free time, he is a multi- award winning portrait photographer.
Instructor Pilot & Formation Leader - Brian Cornes Squadron Leader RAF Ret'd.
Brian spent 23 years in the Royal Air Force, clocking up over 1400 hours on the Canberra, 1100 on the Hawk and 600 on the Hunter, as the Royal Navy's fixed wing standards examiner. Aside from that, he is also an aeronautical engineer and rebuilt his Pitts Special.
Brian is now a commercial pilot flying corporate jets, as well as being a competition aerobatic pilot and aerobatic instructor.
Congratulations to Cornsey and his lovely wife, Linda who have recently married.
Instructor Pilot - Ian Churchill
Ian also came to Delta Jets from a long career in the Royal Air Force. Specialising in flying the Hercules C-130 transport aircraft, Ian continues to fly the Herc overseas. He was also Flight Commander on Jet Provost, and took the last RAF course to be trained on JPs. With his wealth of experience on the Jet Provost, Ian is our primary conversion course instructor.
Aside from flying the Hercules, Ian is also a flying instructor, teaches aerobatics and is a family man.
Shaun Patrick.
Unusually, Shaun has followed a civilian route into flying fast jets, converting from flying the Pitts Special and Beech Baron in 1999. Whilst specialising in the Jet Provost, Shaun has also been flying the Hawker Hunter since 2001 and has displayed the aircraft on the display circuit.
Steve Male.
Steve is a gliding instructor, and came to Delta Jets in 2006 for his first fast jet flight. Successfully completing a conversion course on our Jet Provost T Mk5 A, Steve now flies on a regular basis, and aspires to complete further training to become of our Jet Provost display pilots.
